When life hands you lemons....

It's been so long since my last post and boy have there been a lot of changes around here!! The economy has not been kind to our family...to say the least! Our family owned construction company has been barely hanging on and just couldn't last. So after much consideration and heart ache we've been forced to close up shop. Not a pleasant thing! Needless to say there hasn't been any creating force for me lately. I've been making trips to lawyers, meetings on closing the business and packing.

But as the old saying goes....when life hands you lemons, make lemonade! And that is just what we are doing! Our dream had been to retire to the southern states so we're making this our golden opportunity to get there. OK, so we're a little early! But there are going to be sunny skies ahead!

We are now in the process of moving to Fairhope, Alabama. It has so much to offer that we've been dreaming of! Warm weather, beaches, fresh sea food and an artistic surrounding.

We found a wonderful little place there that soon will be "home". It's smaller than our current home which means some things won't be going with me. But it also means less time cleaning and more time creating. I can't wait! I'm a little older and a lot slower than when we first built our home so the change of pace will be a welcomed one!

It's a difficult journey. Lots of memories, lots of tears and good byes. But with every journey there are lessons to learn. This is one of those journeys! You realize the important things in life such as family and dear friends. You hold them closer in your heart than you used to and appreciate them more! You cherish kind words more than you ever have...and find out that sometimes those words come from the most unlikely people!

They say that when God closes a door, he opens a window somewhere. I believe our "window" is in Alabama! And to be quite honest I'm rather looking forward to new experiences and paths we'll soon be following.

So today, I just remember....when life hands you lemons, make lemonade! I hope God puts lots of sugar in it for us!!
